Who is a candidate?
The very best candidates for abdominoplasty are men or
women who are generally in good health, but who are
worried about loose skin and large fat paunch
over their abdominal area. The most common clinical situations
are:
-
Older patients with slight obesity who may also have
poorer skin tone through ageing
- Women who after several pregnancies have loose
skin and poor muscle tone
-
Patients who have lost significant amounts of weight,
but who have been left with unsightly loose skin
and stretch marks.
If you intend to lose weight in the future, or if you have not
yet finished your family, then you should postpone your
abdominoplasty until afterwards.
-
Will anesthesia be used?
Abdominoplasty will be done under General Anesthesia and takes 2-3 hours average.

Three types of Abdominoplasty
Modified Abdominoplasty (mini-tuck)

In a modified abdominoplasty, only the excess loose skin above
the pubic bone is surgically removed. In this case, the umbilicus
remains untouched.
Standard Abdominoplasty

In this type of abdominoplasty,
the skin and fat from between the pubic bone and the
umbilicus are removed. This leaves the umbilicus itself in place.
Apronectomy

Apronectomy is some kind of a modified mini-tuck, in which the
patient has a large excess of skin and fat
hanging down over the pubic area and genitals. It is this
surplus of tissue that is removed.
